BILL'S TIPS AND TRICKS Over the years, we've tried to give you some pointers. Let's review the most important. 1.Solder the track joints; no ifs, no ands, no buts, just do it. This applies to those of you with permanent or semi-permanent N-, HO-, O– and G-gauge layouts! 2. Clean the tracks regularly in all scales. This should be done by everyone regardless of scale, size, or status. 3. Power feeds every 10-12' of track. 4. Keep those batteries charged in your O-Gauge engines. Lube every 40-50 hours of run-time. 5. Check wheel gauge and coupler height on all HO models. Don't assume anything. 6. Use transitions on all grades. 7. Read the instruction manuals. 8. Get any repairs for Christmas in early. 9. If you are using any old Lionel transformer to run the new trains, save yourself some heartache and come in to get a surge protector quick-blow fuse combo.
